How to Import Article from Google Docs to WordPress

It can be fun for you to write articles for your own blog, directly in WordPress editor, but how bored do you feel when it comes to copy and paste the article from word file or Google docs? Today I am sharing a trick with you to Import Article from Google Docs.

If you are the blogger who sometimes prefers to get his content from the content writer, then this can be the first irritating problem for you. You are paying well to the content writer, though you have to spend a lot of time for the same content because you cannot directly copy and paste the entire article due to formatting and image issues.

Now no more frustration while doing this job, as you can directly import the article from Google Docs, so though your article is in the word file, you can import it in Google Docs and then get it in your wordpress.com or any other self-hosted wordpress.org powered by JetPack site.

The Complete Guide: How to Import Article from Google Docs

Step 1: Open the Chrome browser.

Step 2: Install “WordPress.com for Google Docs” addon on your browser.

Here is what the description of this addon says:

Compose a document in Google Docs and send it directly to any WordPress.com or Jetpack powered WordPress.org site as a draft post.

Step 3: On the next page you will be asked for the permission to integrate wordpress.com with Google Docs.

After clicking on Continue, you will be redirected to the next page as shown below:

Step 4: Now, you need to open the article which you want to export to WordPress. After opening it, click on

Add-ons > WordPress.com for Google Docs > Open

Step 5: Once, you have clicked on the “open” option, one panel will be open to the right side of your screen looking like this:

Here you need to click on authorize. You will be asked to log in to your WordPress account.

Step 6: Once you are logged in, you will have to select your blog on which you want to import the article. Just after selection, click on “Approve” button

Now, your Google docs are connected with wordpress.com. You will see the list of connected sites on the right side of Google docs. Now you can save your articles from Google docs to your WordPress site as a draft. If you want to add more of your blogs, then you can click on the option given in footer, “ADD WORDPRESS SITE.”

Step 7: Now click on the save draft button and your article will be saved on your blog, and the images will be uploaded to the server of your blog. So, now no issues in formatting while importing your article.

Few things to be noted…

  • If you are editing the included images in Google Docs, it won’t be reflected in your blog.
  • Comments made in Google Docs won’t be imported in your article.
  • If you are deleting the image from your Google docs, then after updating the draft also, you won’t be able to reflect these changes on your blog.
